Awe…some Mondays/Monday’s Music Moves Me

Back in May this young lady, our oldest granddaughter, graduated from college with her degree in elementary education. This November she will marry the young man pictured with her. It has been a beautiful journey. She was born to be a teacher and showed signs of it very early in her life. One rainy day, when she was under 10, she created some games, made tokens, gathered up some stuffed toys for prizes and created a carnival in her bedroom to entertain her younger siblings. She’s going to be a great teacher. Last Thursday she accepted a first grade teaching position in a great school. It is the same school where she did her student teaching. Her life is changing very fast but she is adapting well. The future is bright for a very bright young lady. I’m going to have to sew the buttons back on my shirt after popping them all off with pride.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

A couple of weeks ago I was watching the CBS Saturday Morning Show and they had this group as their musical guest at the end of the broadcast. The Wild Feathers have been around for a few years, but are just now making a splash in Nashville. They have recently released their third album and are going on tour. The group is new to me, so I went to YouTube to give a listen and I was very impressed with these guys. They could be the next “Eagles”, but I think I can detect a bit of Creedence Clearwater Revival influence in some of their work. Anyway, I like them and I thought you might like to hear their sound as well. Enjoy.

Neon Moon was originally released by Brooks and Dunn. Here, The Wild Feathers strip it down to the bare essentials.

Now close your eyes…you can almost hear the eagles flying over head.

Have a blessed week.

  1. You have good reason to be proud. She is going to be a great teacher. It is great to see young people so passionate about what they are getting into. My employer started a systematic effort to hire college graduates about ten years ago and I have been very impressed with quality, character, and work ethic of the people they hired.
After your blurb on Dwight Yoakum, I was checking them out on itunes and I saw that I could get his greatest hits album very inexpensively so I did that and have been listening to him all week. Of course that takes his music only to 2004 so I have a lot more to discover.
    Have a great week Driller.

  2. The granddaughter was literally born to be a teacher. She has shown those tendencies all of her life. If you like Mr. Yoakam, you might want to check out today’s group. They are pretty good.

  4. Driller,

A lot of changes for your granddaughter in one year, eh? She’s a lovely girl. I hope she has a happy life with her soon-to-be husband and as an educator, a job I don’t envy. I know it’s gotten a lot harder for those who have the passion to teach with all too many kids who want to distract the class or just don’t want to learn. Hopefully, teaching first graders won’t be as challenging as it can be for older kids. I love the mewsic style of Wild Feathers. They do remind me a lot of the Eagles as well. Thanks for the introduction and it’s great seeing you back on the dance floor for another week, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!

Wow! I am so diggin’ these Wild Feathers! They have a great sound with some incredible harmonizing. I have never heard of them before so thanks for the introduction. I’m on my second time listening to “Hard Times”. I think that’s my favorite of the four you featured here today. Although I really like “Big Sky” too.
I’ve always been a major Eagles fan and I agree, they do indeed have that Eagles flair. May they go on to be as successful too. They sound amazing in my headphones and I’m like Dang! These guys are Good with a capital G!! This may actually be the best new-to-me group I’ve been introduced to in a long time.

And a hearty Congrats on the exciting news about your granddaughter. Boy she is sure diving in with both feet, starting her career and getting married. Those are some major milestones. She’s gorgeous too. That news takes me back to my days when I was first starting out in my career. Such an exciting time in life. How proud you must be to see her not only following her dream but actually fulfilling it too. Beautiful! Congrats Grandpa!

So glad that you’ve joined the Monday’s Music Moves Me gang. I’m looking forward to getting to know you and your musical tastes.
Enjoy the rest of your week,

    Michele at Angels Bark

    1. The Wild Feathers were very impressive. I would love to see these guys in concert.
Thanks for the kind words regarding the grand daughter. She has always been one to jump in with both feet. Exciting times indeed.

  6. I wish your granddaughter a long and successful career. We need inspired, passionate teachers. Her story reminds me of my husband’s cousin. We knew at an early age she was going to be a teacher and indeed, she became a 4th grade teacher. I love the band’s name – of the songs, Hard Times was my favorite.
