  1. Some buildings have such great bones. This one does.

    1. Yes, it’s a real place. The header photo is of the real building, located in Boerne, TX which is about twenty-five miles north of San Antonio. I photographed several buildings on our Texas road trip with the intent os sketching a few of the details at a later date. This is the first installment. I have the second image sitting in front of me right now and I hope to begin the sketch in a few days, so stay tuned for additional offerings.

    1. Unlike New York City, most of the buildings in Texas Hill Country, built prior to 1900, had little reason to be more than two or three stories in height. This particular structure is a two story example.

    1. This sketch is a combination of pencil, ink, and gray markers. It was the character of this structure that attracted me to it and later inspired the sketch.

    1. Honestly, I’m not that good, but I do like the casual, almost cartoon quality to this example. I don’t think I am capable of doing a more realistic drawing. Glad you enjoyed this offering.
