Aww…Monday’s Music Moves Me

Aww Monday

lucyportrait

Today is National Dog Day!!! The image above is a portrait of our dog Lucy. My wife had it painted and presented to me as a birthday present last year. No, Lucy is not a rescue dog but I think she believes that I am her rescue human.  She is a 2-1/2 year old American Cocker Spaniel and every day is made a little happier and a little better because she is in the family.

Whether she is inspecting a bug, taking a nap, playing fetch, looking like the “House Princess”, or tolerating a selfie portrait shoot, Lucy is my pal for life. She is the fourth cocker spaniel I have had in my lifetime and will always be my favorite breed. There is a store here in town that makes healthy dog treats on site, so I think I’ll stop by and get Lucy a pound of snacks.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

Since this week at 4M is free choice, I think I’ll continue the National Dog Day theme with songs feature dogs in some way. Since Lucy is our “House Princess” how about a song from “The King” himself.

Of course, if your going to bring a pet into the family you need to be aware of the cost. There is the purchase price or adoption fee, then there is the food, annual check-up at the vet, vaccinations, grooming, toys etc. One thing I would say, “Don’t buy your pet at a pet store because they are likely to come from a mill. Rescue the animal from a local shelter or purchase directly from a reputable breeder. Also micro-chip your pet as it will make them much easier to locate if they should wander off. So, what’s the answer to the question…How Much is That Doggie in the Window?

Dogs love their pet humans unconditionally and all they expect is the same in return. So, if you want to know, Yes, I love my dog. Have a blessed week.

Dude of dudes! How was your weekend — fine I hope! My daughter came in from Missouri to see her Mommy (me) & my oldest daughter popped over with her kids so we all went swimming at her hotel. Big fun & then out for lunch! So today’s is National Dog Day! I’ll have to post one of Charlie’s pics… Anyways, love, love, love your pickins’ for tunes, my friend. Luke Bryan… love him & his tunes!!! He likes labs too! Woo Hoo!!! The first tune was really emotional. Our last 3 dogs were black labs… they’re just so darn cute. Our last two were Cleo (short for Cleopatra, she thought she was a queen for sure) and our last dog was called, “Baby”! Which she thought she was definitely the baby of the family! She was 18 when she went to Rainbow Bridge to meet Cleo. The Vet use to say, “The Queen ” is here ladies lets treat her like royalty. Plus she lived until she was almost 19 & the Vet said labs don’t live that long & that she must’ve been very well loved. No, she was spoiled! haha I love your dogs especially your cocker spaniel. Just beautiful!!! Thanks for sharing & my favorite song was Luke Bryan’s “Little Boys Grow Up and Dogs Get Old”! Have a great week my friend! hugs

  2. Driller,

Lucy is a cutie. Dogs with long hair like a cocker spaniel are like little floor mops. lol I told DH if we get all hardwood floors someday then we need to get a dog like this to keep the dust away. 😀 But…as you said there’s a cost that comes with any pet not to mention special care, so I’m not sure that we want that responsibility. My hat is off to you and others who share a deep love for animals to give them a good home and life. Thanks for sharing such wonderful doggie tunes on the dance floor today. Have a boogietastic week, my furriends!

    1. Just checking to verify that I had the right date. The Cavalier King Charles typically has a little shorter muzzle and a less rounded head than the American Cocker. At 18lbs Lucy is a small cocker and only slightly larger than a Cavalier.

  3. Your wife is so talented. Wow, that’s a great portrait of Lucy. Lucy is a very pretty girl dog.

Love your music choices today. Some take you way back.

Sorry I’m so late today. We boated from Rio Vista back to our slip and then drove home.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. 🙂

  4. A beautiful portrait of Lucy. A memory of my childhood (Patti Page) The Luke Bryan song, though, was the one that grabbed my heart. In that video, the Husky towards the beginning looks like my husband’s cousin’s husky (she has two) – I see her dogs on Facebook all the time.
