Awe…some Monday’s Music Moves Me

Last Thursday the youngest grand daughter signed a letter  of intent to run track at Southern Arkansas University.

She competes in high jump for the back to back  state champion high school track team. They could win number three this spring. Our girl has been a conference champion high jumper and second in state. A few weeks ago she competed in her first indoor meet of the season and cleared the bar at 5′-5″.  That feat made her the 49th best high school jumper in the nation! It also ranked her as the 25th best senior jumper in the country.

It was an Awe…some day for the family. Yes, I will be at all of her track meets this spring and there will be photos coming.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

December was my last entry in the 4M meme. As you can see, I am experimenting with a new look to this blog. I don’t know if I will settle on this theme or try another sometime soon. Let me know what you think. Okay on with the music. I have been riding my recumbent eliptical recently to regain strength and stamina after a major surgery, but that is a story for another day. At any rate, I ride thirty minutes a day so I put my headphones on, fire up Spotify and go to my playlists. Recently there have been a song that has caught my attention once again and it comes from Randy Travis.

Since I missed the official Valentine Theme week, I will jump in with an offering today. This May my wife and I will celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary. One thing that I have come to realize is that my life would be totally incomplete without her. Almost everything that I am or good that I have done is due to her presence in my life. The song that seems to best express this sentiment is, “If I didn’t have you.”

  1. Welcome back to Blogosphere, Driller! Alana mentioned to me that you were updating your blog. Your layout looks good. The large font is nice, making it a little easier on the eyes. Congrats to the granddaughter on her track accomplishments and commitment Southern Arkansas University. It’s great to have you back on the dance floor again. Have a boogietastic week, my friend.

  2. Driller,

I left a comment a moment ago using my WP credentials but it isn’t showing up. You may want to check your spam folder. I will attempt to leave this message using my Twitter sign-in info. I know some sites I’m having issues with my WP but this is a good alternative. If my earlier comment wasn’t received can you let me know please? Thanks!

    1. As you may have noticed, my url changed slightly with the new blog theme. I upgraded my subscription to WordPress from free to premium and I think that is creating some issues. Hopefully all will work out shortly.

  3. The blessing of having the grandchildren living in the same town cannot be understated. We have been blessed to be a part of all of their activities. They are growing up way too fast but we cherish the memories of their younger days and look forward to what they will accomplish.

    1. I do like some of the options available to me in the new format. The background is my photo, so I can change that whenever I like, so don’t be surprised when you see seasonal changes to the image behind the main panel. There will be more news about the granddaughter coming soon. Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed week.

    1. The new look is growing on me, but I’m sure I will experiment with some of the colors and images going forward. We think the granddaughter is pretty special. I just thought the Randy Travis song said all that I wanted to say about the love of my life. Have a blessed week.

Oh wow!!! Love, love, love the new look & the new you too! Grandchildren are so important. It’s like we get to live our youth all over again through them. Your granddaughter is so beautiful and energetic. Wow! I know you’re proud for sure… I have a granddaughter like that too, but she’s into softball I think they call it. She’s a pitcher and she’s fantastic. So maybe we can swap pics and stories. ~hehehe~ It’s so fun isn’t it? Love Randy Travis. Thanks for sharing your tune and your lovely pictures and you’re looking quite good with your lady too!!!! Have a great week!

    1. With our grand kids we have been through soccer (twice), dance, track, and baseball. It has been a great adventure and we will miss all of the activity when the last one graduates high school. Softball is a big deal in this part of the country and there are some very good travel teams in the area. We are indeed proud of our youngest grandchild and she is excited about continuing her track and field career at the next level.
The new look for me is a whole different story and treatment/recovery is ongoing. The journey has been remarkable and the prayers of many have been answered and through it all the God of all creation has been honored and praised.

I love your new look. Of course I like your old look as well.
Congratulations to your granddaughter for her accomplishments as a high jumper. I bet she has made you and her parents proud for her other accomplishments as well.
Congratulations on you and your wife’s anniversary. That is very special and I love how much you appreciate your wife. My wife has been there for me so many times I don’t know what I would do without her.
Kudos to you for working so hard on your surgery recovery. That is hard work and 30 minutes a day is a commitment.

  7. The new looks is still in the “Beta” testing stage for me. I am experimenting with background images and haven’t explored the possibility of adding content like additional pages to the site. No hurry though…Rome wasn’t built in a day.
All of the grand kids have been a source of pride in their own way. While we miss those days when they were preschool and elementary days, it is truly exciting to see the young adults that they are becoming.
Like I said the surgery is a story for another day. Maybe when all of the results are in I will chronicle the series of events. All I can say is that God was there every step of the way.
