Aww…some Monday

So…how are you dealing with the COVID-19 restrictions? We are finishing up the second full week of social distancing in our town and Sunday marked the third Lord’s Day that there have been no services at the Church. The staff meet in the sanctuary and the congregation live streams the worship time. It’s certainly not as good as live fellowship with other believers, but it is necessary in these trying times.

During the week my wife and I take a short drive every few days to places we enjoy spending time. The other day she met a friend for coffee on the town square and they walked  along a local trail while visiting at the preferred social distance. When she got home she said, “Have you seen the flowers on the square?” “No, I haven’t”, was my reply so I was advised that I needed to grab my camera and go take a few photos. The tulips were in full bloom around the square which means they won’t be with us much longer, so I headed out the door with camera in hand and sure enough the square was ablaze with tulips. here are a few images from my photo walk around the town square.  I must say, the flowers were Aww…some and a bright spot in my week.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

So the music theme this week is walking. I guess the photos above prove that I at least took a walk around the town square. We took another walk at one of the local parks, but those images have not been processed. It these days of no restaurants, movies, cross-fit gyms, or concerts, walking the neighborhood has become a very popular pastime for many Americans. Sheltering in place may give rise to a whole new fitness trend. Our cocker spaniel is enjoying the walks into areas of the neighborhood that she has never seen, but she is not a fan of social distancing. Lucy wants to play with everybody and their dog…literally. So what about walking songs. Well, if you live in Northwest Arkansas, walking to New Orleans can take quite awhile.

But if you think it’s a long walk to New Orleans, how about walking to Jerusalem?

Of course the stroll is kind of like walking only with a little rythum…sometimes very little rythum. Just sayin’

During difficult times whether in our personal lives or during a global pandemic, there is no better time to walk closer to the One who created us, loves us, and wants to spend eternity with us. Have a blessed week.

    We too have taken a drive or two just to get out of the house. We don’t stop anywhere, just go for a drive.

    The flowers are beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to bring spring to me this morning.

      Typically, there is no one within 50′ of me when I am photographing the flowers. Thankfully I can find locations around town that are pretty quiet. I was just a year away from becoming a teenager when The Stroll became popular. I think I started watching American Bandstand at age eleven. I have always loved music and dancing.       It seems like each week we get a little more careful about sheltering at home. My photo shoots are usually done early before many are out and about. We will take advantage of senior only shopping hours at the local grocery store and begin ordering from home and pick up at the store. Stay home, stay safe, stay healthy.

    Oh my gosh, I love the tulips. Thank you so much. Me being allergic to bees we don’t have any planted by me, but I’ve been thinking about it. They’re so beautiful. Wish we had a place to see them. Your tunes are awesome. I haven’t heard the Stroll in ages. That was my brother’s ages & Ernest Ford my mama use to watch his show all the time.     Yesterday, I had a doctor’s appointment. It was the first time that I had been really away from the house in weeks and I immediately noticed the tulips standing beautifully tall in bold shades making my eyes go wide with oohs spilling off my lips. That was the highlight of my afternoon. I arrived at my appointment to learn it had been canceled. They said they tried calling but I didn’t get it or even a message on my vm. If you ask me, someone just dropped the ball on that. What a bummer and a waste…well, not entire I did see those gorgeous flowers in bloom. 🙂 DH went to Walmart to pick up a few things while I walked a little around the parking lot. It was breezy. This morning I have a sinus headache. Ugh, but it was nice being outdoors, though.

    You picked some interesting songs for the theme. Walking to New Orleans or Jerusalem is a very, very long walk. 🙂 The later title is new-to-me. The strolls is a kind of walk, isn’t it? Great take! It seems like American Bandstand or Soul Train or maybe both that had a segment in their programs for a stroll. I don’t think that’s what they called it, but the general idea was the same. I loved how you closed off your song choices with ‘Closer Walk With Thee’ which is spot on for these times. Tennessee Ernie Ford’s rich baritone vocals really warm the soul as I listened to that old gospel hymn. Thanks for sharing and hitting the 4M dance floor from a safe distance.       With all of the trees and flowers in bloom pollen is a huge issue right now, so I’m not surprised that you have a headache after strolling the Walmart parking lot. The Stroll was a “dance” from 1958 and was debuted on American Bandstand. It was the musical version of a couple strolling hand-in-hand down life’s lane. Some of the couples got pretty creative with twists, turns, and spins. The late fifties and early sixties was the golden era of the baritone in music and Ernie Ford was one of the best. Stop by on Wednesday as there will be a few more floral images for viewing. Have a blessed week.

    Bentonville has a beautiful town square (I’ve seen it in August) and your pictures are stunning. Loved hearing Fats Domino. Tennessee Ernie Ford is one of these singers that had a perfect voice for the type of music he chose. Hope you get to continue to enjoy your spring. As for me, I’m working from home and my husband is retired.. Fortunate to be able to do so. I am retiring later this month (planned before this all started) but hope to be able to continue to work part time.

    The city of Bentonville takes great pride in making the town square a special place in the spring. Once this coronavirus thing is over, there will be a farmers market every Saturday and the first Friday of each month there will be a special celebration. You’re going to love retirement. I retired in 2013 and my wife followed in 2017. We have both settled well into the new lifestyle. Have a blessed week.
