Aww Mondays
Lucy, our house princess, has several designated places around the house to lay down and catch a nap. There is a bed by the fireplace in the living room, and another in the den. Then there are the alternate places that she has chosen for herself. There is a throw on top of the couch in the living room that allows her to see everything that happens in the back yard and there is my wife’s chair in the den that allows the guard princess to see everything that happens in the front yard. The image above is from the location by the fireplace. After a walk around the neighborhood or some frisbee fetch time in the back yard, Lucy is ready for a little down time.
Class of 2020
Saturday was supposed to be the day for commencement exercises of the graduating class of 2020. That has been postponed until July, but most families had some sort of home celebration. We had a taco bar, a few friends dropped by, and gifts for the graduate. Proud parents and grandparents were in attendance.
Papa (that’s me) puts together a photo montage of images that he has captured over the past 18 years. One traditional and special gift from Nana, a t-shirt memory quilt made from t-shirts and athletic jerseys that carry special memories. These shirts have been collected and saved for over 10 years of soccer, track, church camp, vacation bible school etc. Nana designs and pieces the quilt together then sends it to someone to do the final quilting. It is truly the gift that will keep on giving.
Monday’s Music Moves Me
This week is a free choice week so I get to pick whatever music I like to share. In this day and age of electronics, social media etc., have you noticed how many folks are still not good communicators? I mean when a friend sends you a text, you answer it and follow up with a question….no follow up answer. It’s like their phone went dead. A relative calls and invites you to dinner. Where are we going, you ask. They reply that they will call you right back with the answer….nothing. It’s like they forgot to pay their bill and service has been cut off. You call back to verify the location and no one answers. It’s enough to give one a nervous breakdown.
One thing is certain. With the demise of the landline phone looming in the not to distant future, the lack of communication won’t be the fault of the Wichita Lineman.
Maybe the answer to the lack of communication is just blowin’ in the wind.
Have a blessed week.
Princess Lucy is adorable. I know she bring you such joy and I know you bring her such joy too.
What a wonderful thing you did for the graduating Grand. You guys rock.
Love all the videos. Some greats from back in the day.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, my friend. 🙂

One of my husband’s cousins had that type of quilt made for her but not by a family member. It was a total surprise and so cherished, and your granddaughter will cherish her quilt, too. The Class of 2020 has been handed a great challenge but I know they are up to it. And you picked three beloved songs this week, especially “Wichita Lineman”. So beautiful; thank you.

We feel so bad for our niece who graduates from high school this year and has had to miss out on all the usual fun things. A friend of ours made a quilt like that for her niece who is big into dancing. Such a fun idea!

It was a great day, but it will take some time before the grand daughter realizes just how special it is. The school has decided to have a real graduation ceremony in July.

Driller,
Congrats to the granddaughter for making it to graduation! My niece’s son graduates this year, too. He plans to go to a community college to become a nurse, like his mama. I hope they’ll do a commencement ceremony for the seniors over summer. I love technology but you’re right about people not knowing how to communicate. When someone sends me anything I like to acknowledge that I got it. Rarely do I get these sorts of responses and most of the time when I ask a question it gets overlooked. *roll eyes* We did away with our landline years ago and moved over to VoIP service. It’s a ton cheaper but has its drawbacks when the power is out. That’s not a big deal now that we have cell phones which we primarily use for everything anyhow. Thanks for joining the 4M crew on the dance floor. Have a boogietastic week and stay well, my friend!

It funny, 95% of our phone calls come through our cell phones, but our daughter still calls our land line and she hasn’t had a land line in several years.

Thanks for joining Monday’s Music Moves Me this morning. First off your puppy is just too too cute! I love cocker spaniel’s they’re so darn lovable. Your granddaughter’s grad pics are great. You sure did it up right for her with the pics & the comforter quilt. She’s adorable & the pic with the proud parents & grandparents are great. Thank you so much for sharing. One would think you’re rather proud of the goings on! he-he-he Of course you are & you have every right to be. Those tunes you picked are right on the mark for sure. I haven’t heard them in a while, but it sure is great to hear them now. Ya got great taste my friend. Your 19th nervous breakdown does bring back old memories. I use to know all the words to that tune. Have a great day & stay healthy, stay safe!

Our Feline Princess Lucy has favorite places too! The fireplace, the kitty bed on the couch, the futon in the guest bedroom and on top of me while I read in bed! Your Granddaughter should be proud of herself! Such achievements!
And her quilt speaks volumes about her spirit and determination! Cheers!

Actually, I only mentioned a couple of Lucy’s favorite spots. There is also the corner of our bed, the corner of the bed in the guest room, and rug in the front entry.

Congratulations to your granddaughter. I am glad to hear that there will be a graduation ceremony later this summer. Her family had a nice celebration and she’ll remember that. I love the quilt. Many runners have their favorite race shirts made into quilts. They make great keepsakes.
I know what you mean about followup on communication. It hardly ever happens and if I try and do it, it is just crickets. And young people, they love their phones but they hate talking on them. It’s always like, “Did you call them?” And the answer is “Well, I texted them yesterday.” And I say call him now, just ask him.
