2020 Family Vacation
Last week the family met at Stillwaters Resort on Table Rock Lake, near Branson, Missouri for a vacation. Since the grandkids are now young adults with one married and two in college, schedules are getting harder to arrange so quality family time is cherished. We’ve been coming to this resort for over ten years and everyone loves it.
We almost always take one morning and rent a pontoon boat to go tubing. We also rent a couple of jet skis on a different day for those who are more adventurous. I am long past the age that a jet ski sounds like a good idea. Okay back to the pontoon boat and tube. I have always been the designated driver and my daughter becomes the family photographer for this event. Here are a few images from this year.

Oh, the squirrel in the first image was at the resort too. I named him Rocky and found him to be very fond of the Mountain Trail Mix from Sam’s Club.
Monday’s Music Moves Me
The theme this week at 4M is Island songs. My first reaction was, “Say whaaaat?” After a little research I decided to have a little fun with this theme and post a couple of songs that you may have never heard. First up is a tune from Harry Chapin. His biggest hit was “Cat’s in the Cradle”. Harry was a master story teller with a great sense of humor and we lost him way too soon. When you think of Islands in the summer, generally your thoughts turn tropics, pineapples, and bananas, so here is a song about 30,000 pounds of bananas.
How many of you remember the 1986 Tom Hanks movie, Castaway? Tom played a Fed-X pilot who’s plane crashed in the ocean and he spent three years marooned on an island. His co-star was a volleyball named Wilson. Well the Zac Brown Band has recorded a song titled Castaway that has nothing to do with the movie, but I like the sound of this tune.
Another Island themed tune from ZBB is Island Song. Enjoy.
Alan Jackson tells us that the mood on any island vacation should be Laid Back and Low Key.
Okay, lets wrap this set up with a couple of songs from someone who spends a great deal of time living on an island. Kenny Chesney tells us about Life on a Rock and that the dress code on the islands is No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems. Have a blessed week.

I think family holidays grow a family closer together. Holidays are all about good times. Everyone leaves their troubles and drama at home and just meets for a few days of fun in the sun. It’s good for everybody.

What a fun vacation. I love the action shots. My body would be hurting after that kind of spill. Ouch. Fun in my younger years. I’m so glad you had quality time with your family. The squirrel is a nice awww too.

Yes indeed, falling off a tube at 40 mph is not for the faint of heart. There is not enough Tylenol in the state to ease my pain. That’s why I drive the boat.

How fun that get together must be! Mom loves to go tubing and to drive a jet ski. She is probably too old for it but she is the crazy one in the family that refuses to act her age. Even Bailie has been on the jet ski and tubing, but Mom took it slow just to give her a taste of what it was like and she enjoyed it. Have a great week.

If they allowed pets, I am sure Lucy would be a little anxious at first but warm up to the tube as long as we took it slow and easy.

Good morning, Driller! Looks like everyone had a blast on the water. It looks like a lot of fun but I wouldn’t last too long on a tub behind a boat. That’s great y’all are able to take family vacations. I can imagine how difficult it is to schedule everyone. We have trouble all the time getting together with ours who live in town for dinner. Family vacations I’ll just forget about that. The headache would be enormous! Thanks for sharing a fabulous selection of island themed songs with me. You slipped in a few I hadn’t heard yet. I do remember the movie “Castaway” with Hanks but have not watched it. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

I’ve never tubed, and after seeing picture #2, I never will! (My back will be in pain for hours just looking at that). Do they have a lazy river? That’s more my speed. So, I have a fun fact for you, 30,000 lb of Bananas is based on a true story, which could have been absolutely tragic, that happened back in 1965. Scranton, Pennsylvania (where the true story took place) is about an hour south of where I live. And I loved the movie “Castaway”, both the island part of the story and what happened ….oops, no spoilers here. Enjoyed your Island songs. Maybe one day!

I am not surprised that Harry Chapin found a little known true story and set it to music.
I loved Castaway, with the exception of the ice skate.. I have never been a fan of having dental work done.

…it sounds like I should revisit Harry Chapin. The Zac Brown Band is new to me and Alan Jackson and Kenny Chesney made the country scene at about the time when I was turned off by New Country. I never had a problem with Old Country. Thanks for the introductions, I will head on over th YouTude.
