Aww…some Monday’s Music Moves Me

Aww…some Mondays

When summer rolls around Lucy, our house princess, also assumes the roll of patio princess.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

Our honorary hostess for this month is Marie from Xmas Dolly. Marie has asked us to select some of our favorite songs from the 80’s and 90’s. Around our house Country music ruled in the 90’s and the decade was certainly a high water mark for this genre. Country music in the 90’s gave us superstars like Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, Martina McBride, Brooks and Dunn, just to name a few. Some of my favorite music came from lesser known artists. They had several hits in the 90’s but they never reached superstar status. Suzy Bogguss is one of those artists and “Aces” is one of those songs.

Have a blessed week.

  1. I’m glad you went with the 90s. That’s a decade my brain was the most foggy when it comes to music. I know there are hit songs from that decade that I know but just don’t remember. Those were the years when our kids were small so you can see why I might have trouble recollecting much of anything. Faith Hill is always a lovely choice for female country stars. She’s not only easy on the eyes but her voice is really nice. Suzy Bogguss absolutely does not click but she has a sweet voice. I’m delighted you shared her song title this morning for me to enjoy. Hal Ketchum slipped my mind not that I remember him by name as much as I know his song. I’m horrible when it comes to which artist did what. Thanks for hitting the dance floor with the 4M crew, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!

    1. The 90’s saw our daughter in high school and country music was at least as popular as top 40 tunes. Suzy Bogguss and Hal Ketchum were more songwriters, turned singers than pure entertainers, but they wrote and recorded some great music.

  2. Miss Lucy is a beautiful patio princess. She’s a princess now matter where she is.

Love your playlist. Some I remember, some not at all. I’m with Cathy on the 90s.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, my friend. 🙂

Great pics. I am familiar with Toby Keith and Faith Hill but not Susan Boggus nor Hal Ketchum. The Boggus song is outstanding.
I am not a big country fan and sometimes I wish that the 90’s country artists still dominated and then I think that it so typical of country fans. So many of them (me) want to go back and Country just keeps on moving forward with sometimes back to basics moves. I call country music now, “Music for grownups.”

    1. The 90’s were certainly a high water mark for country music in general and for Oklahoma artists in particular. Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Reba McEntire, Joe Diffie, Ronnie Dunn (Brooks & Dunn), and Toby Keith all came to prominence during the decade. Yes, somedays I wish country music still sounded like 90’s.

Because I’m not a big country fan, I wasn’t familiar with any of these songs. Of the set, I liked Suzy Bogguss (who I had never heard of) the most by far, with Faith Hill (who I have heard of) second. I think this was one of your better photos of Princess Lucy, not that any of the other ones were bad. Stay safe, DrillerAA; I understand “it” is starting to spike in some parts of your state.
