Aww…some Monday’s Music Moves Me

Aww Mondays

Lucy makes taking a nap look sooo easy!

Hummingbird Moth

Last week I posted some images of the various butterflies that have visited the butterfly bush in our flower bed. More recently Hummingbird moths seem to have taken over. Some days there are five or six working the blooms at the same time. I grabbed the camera and spent a few moments trying to capture these interesting creatures. Here are the results.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

The theme at 4M this week is back to school. It’s been decades since I had a “first day of class” celebration, but it is almost fall, football is in the air and I can think of no better way to get this back to school thing started than with the pregame show of my college alma mater, The University of Okalhoma. BOOMER, Sooner! There is no better place to be on an autumn Saturday afternoon than in the stands of an OU game and witness this extravaganza. It’s been waaay too long since I have attended a game. Have a blessed week.

  1. Princess Lucy. What a great shot.

Love the flowers and love the hummingbird moth. I’ve never seen one before. You’re so talented with a camera.

Love the video. Now that’s pride. Impressive.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop, my friend.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches to Princess Lucy. 🙂

  2. Such nice pictures – you captured the essence of these interesting moths. I rarely see them at my house, but that may just be a matter of being in the right place at the wrong time. Your pictures are much better than what I posted a couple of months ago. Your college pregame show is the perfect way to start the school year. I saw the band director up on that ladder – I hope it is stable! (The things you think of when you get on in years…)

  3. Your photo of Lucy and the quote are perfect together! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a hummingbird with a fur coat. lol That’s what it looks like its wearing, don’t you think? The ones I’ve seen are usually green and white. On rare occasions I’ve seen red throated hummingbirds. They are interesting little critters indeed. It is football season again and a good fight song is a great way to kick off going back to school, right? Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos and music with the 4M crew this week, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!

    1. Yes, humingbird moths are kind of fuzzy. They’re bigger than a bumble bee but smaller than a humming bird. They’re wings are transparent and flap at hummingbird speed. I had to shoot that image at 1/5000 of a second to stop the action.

  4. Mom says she needs us around for therapy all the time. When she was in the hospital last month, she just wanted to get home to be with us for comfort. No hospital therapy dog would do, she needs her own dogs. Never heard of a hummingbird moth, but they are super cool, and you got some great shots!

Great shots of the moth. I have never heard of a hummingbird moth. What a magnificent moth, perfectly captured.

I’m kind of excited about OU going to the SEC. I hope that it works out well for them.

  6. I’m kind of excited about going to the SEC. I do think it will help recruiting. We may struggle for a year of two, but OU will eventually be competitive. I feel sorry for OSU being left on the outside looking in.
