We have always decorated the exterior of the house for Christmas. I am in charge of the lighting while my wife handles wreaths & garland. This was our house in 2011. You will notice there are no roof lights and that’s because this was a tall roof with a steep slope and I didn’t want to test my health insurance policy.

We loved this house, but in 2013 I retired and in 2014 we moved into town and closer to things like groceries, medical professionals and our church.

In 2015 I found some small flood lights for the front, began using the gutter lights and changed the bulb in the porch to green.

By 2019 I was using larger flood lights and placing a couple in the yard to light the entry gable. Keeping the shrubs lit became an issue so I dropped them from the design.

Last year I dropped the green light out of the porch, placed one behind the white trees I had built to replace the store-bought trees (in the 2015 photo) that had aged out. My wife began lighting the door garland and the wreath in the window.

This year I added solar powered green floods to the corners of the garage to balance the overall design. This may prove to be the final design. I like the way this one looks. Merry Christmas to one and all.
We love the look of your home. Mom doesn’t do anything with lights on the outside of our house she has no idea how to get it all hooked up and it is a lot of work. We can look out and see the neighbor homes that have lights, we would rarely see out own lights, so it is fine this way for now.

The lights are kind of like this music marathon, I do it as much for myself as for those who stop by each day. I appreciate the support, but there is a part of me that just needs to to this.

You two know how to decorate. Always perfectly done. I’ve enjoy your decorations for years.
Love the videos. Such a blessing.
Have a fabulous day and weekend, my friend. See you tomorrow. 🙂

Even with photos from previous years you would be surprised some of the things I forget and have to reinvent.

You’ve got outdoor lights to a science, and it’s just right.
Thank you for the beautiful songs, especially the second selection.

It’s only 13 years to figure it out and I’m sure I will tweak something next year, kind of like this music marathon.

Make Room is a wonderful song. I hear things I don’t hear anything else during your marathon.
Our home lighting design has changed over the years also. as I have recognized that gravity never was my friend and had several coworkers with broken shoulders that took forever to heal. So if I can’t reach it from the ground I don’t do it. Plus we have gone from three trees to one and don’t have one in the front window any longer. We both miss that so it might come back.
I went to two 50 year high school reunions the year before last. One of my classmates from Arizona became an electrical engineer and he showed videos of his lighting. It is architectual quality and he has different lighting schemes for every holiday you can think of.

Christmas is the only holiday I light the house. I don’t think I would want to store all of the gear for multiple holidays. I am sure your classmate is the envy of the neighborhood when he flips the switch.
The search for new music and artists is a great part of the joy I derive from the marathon. It is as much for me as for those who stop by. I truly appreciate the support from my visitors, but I really love sharing music that is not heard in the stores during the holidays. Thank you for your visits.
