Aww…some Monday’s Music Moves Me

Ozark Autumn 2025

Autumn in the Ozarks is a special time of year. The temperatures drop, the leaves change colors and the land prepares itself for winter. This year the colors were awesome, if not a little short lived. My wife and I took a drive over to Dogwood Canyon.

Dogwood Canyon is a 10,000 acre, non profit wildlife and nature preserve owned and operated by Bass Pro Shops. You can walk trails, rent bikes, take a tram ride and even fish, for a fee. We chose the tram ride that took us over three miles from the main building and stopped several times for photo ops and to learn more about the area. It was a great day. Here are a few images from the excursion.

They maintain a herd of Bison, including a white one, a herd of Elk and one of Longhorn cattle on the property. These animals receive the very best of treatment.

It was a great visit. If you’re ever planning a trip to Branson, Missouri, Dogwood Canyon is a must see part of your trip.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

The theme this week is Remembering our veterans with songs of inspiration, thanksgiving and praise. This just might be the most inspirational video I have ever seen of this classic hymn.

  1. That must have been awesome to see bison. That would be really cool to see! Your music is fabulous. Battle Hymn of the Republic always sends shivers up my spine!

I’m a proud Canadian and so was my mom even though she was born in Wittenberg, Germany in 1928. By the time she was 22, she watched her books being burned, taken away from her parents for not teaching the Aryan ways. She did a hunger strike and they sent her home, aged 12. She was in Hamburg and Dresden during the bombings. Watched herv1 yr old brother die and her 19 yr old die of his injuries, after the war. He and 177 others all died of their wounds on the same day..at the hands of the Russians. She was part of the German Resistance and planted the TNT under the bridges against the German army. Dealt with the Russians, starvation, gang raped by the Russians, taken by the Russians but escaped. Escaped to the West, went to school but had a major brain injury and had to relearn how to walk, talk etc… living through these horrors made her cherish her freedom. The Battle Hymn of the Republic was one of her favourites, more in classical style, but she knew these words. When we had her funeral in 2018, we played a beautiful version of this song.

the 2nd song…that man has an excellent voice
