Aww…some Monday’s Music Moves Me

Holy Week

The two greatest events in human history are known as Christmas and Easter. The Old Testament told that God would send a Savior to this world. He even told us that Messiah would come from Bethlehem. The Gospel of Luke provides us with the testimony of the birth of Christ. The Old Testament is also the source of information regarding the fate of the Messiah. Isaiah 53 gives a wealth of information regarding Christ including the facts that He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth. All four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John) give the details of Christ’s arrest, illegal trial, crucifixion, death, burial and resurrection.

Yesterday was Palm Sunday, the day Christ entered Jerusalem for the last time, knowing what was about to take place. During the course of the week He would cleanse the temple, teach the people, have the Last Supper with the apostles, be arrested, put of trial, crucified, and rise from the grave. Christmas and Easter are locked together as one is meaningless without the other.

Sunday April 20, is resurrection Sunday. It is the time of celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and fulfillment of prophecy. Take time to celebrate this occasion in the church of your choice.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

I am going to celebrate this week with a few songs that proclaim the miracle of the resurrection of Christ and the truth that He alone is the Savior of the world. In the book of John, Christ declares, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through me.” The gift of eternal life is free, but there is only one path to Paradise. Victory in Jesus is available to everyone.

The first week of April has come, we’ve had 70 degree temperatures and 4 inches of rain. The second week will bring freezing temps and probably frozen blooms on many flowers. The Dogwood trees, daffodils, and tulips have all bloomed but most of the other flowers are still dormant or in budding stage. The grass is turning green, leaves are setting on the trees and minor league baseball is in the air. I have not had a change to photograph any flowers or sports the past couple of weeks so these images are from 2019.

The theme this week at 4M is “Rain” They say April showers bring May flowers, so I am sharing a few images from 2019. Musically, I am going to share a little spiritual rain. Praise and worship music is good for the soul and brings joy to the heart. Enjoy.

Since this is freedom of choice week at 4M I am going to feature gravel! I have always gravitated towards voices with a rasp in them, so I thought I bring a few back for your enjoyment. I can’t think of a better place to start that Joe Cocker.

I don’t think anyone brought more gravel with them than Rod Stewart.

The theme this week at 4M is Spring time. Well, we all know that April showers bring May flowers, and who doesn’t love a rainy night?

It seems that no matter how many times we fall in and out of love, get our hearts broken or how many hearts we’ve broken, there will come a day when our love will bloom again.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

This week at 4M is freedom of choice. Every once in a while everyone needs to step out of their comfort zone and experience something a little different so I am going to start with a group I love doing a whole different genre of music. I love the acapella group Voiceplay. They have released several exquisite videos and the bass singer is in a league of his own. Recently they released this video that is a Linken Park cover. It is something special.

Moving right along I have chosen a song with a very somber message. Only those who have gone through the experience of losing a loved one to dementia or Alzheimer’s can truly appreciate the lyrics and message in this haunting work from Larkin Poe.

I have to admit, I admire anyone who is proficient at playing a musical instrument, almost any instrument. Some of the finest guitarists come out of the blues, country, and bluegrass genres. Beginning with Chet Atkins and following through Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, and Vince Gill, country has some amazing guitar players. Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Bonamassa, and others hold up their end in blues. Beginning with Doc Watson, and current mainstream bluegrass phenom Billy Strings are the core of bluegrass. So I picked bluegrass, featuring Molly Tuttle and Billy Strings.
