Flea Market Photoshoot…Birds of a Feather

Monday’s Music Moves Me

The theme this week is Dear Diary Day on the National Day calendar. I never kept a diary and I don’t journal now. There are days when I wish I had done both and I suppose this blog is a form of journaling. I do share a lot of information about myself and my family here, but I do keep private things private. The implication is that a journal or diary is the place where one expresses their deepest feelings. Some time later in life the author can look back on certain days and recall the details. There is always the risk that someone else will gain access to these precious moments you have captured on paper, but you can also share them with the ones you love.

Rather than write an entry in a journal or diary, I would prefer to write a thank you note to the Creator. I am ever thankful that God saw fit to place me in the greatest nation on earth and history will show that the Boomers lived through the “Golden Age” of this country. Things have changed the past fifty years and not always for the better. This country is not as safe as it once was. I miss those days for my grand children and now the great grands.

I am especially blessed with the family God has given to me. I wouldn’t trade them for anything. My family is my greatest source of joy. I am thankful for a career in architecture and gave me a great sense of satisfaction. I am thankful that I was blessed with an interest in photography as a young adult and now get to do cool things that can only be done with digital equipment. I am also thankful that the Lord place in me a love for music and that brings us to the choices for today. It will be an eclectic collection that spans the decades of my life from high school to present and ranges from rock to classic hymns. It’s who I am. Enjoy.

Have a blessed week.

Aww…some Monday (Flea Market Dog Show)

Every now and then I grab my small camera and head to one of several local flea markets/antique malls and photograph some of the objects for sale. I may develop a theme or I may just shoot random objects that capture my interest and imagination. The whole point is to keep the creative juices flowing and sharpen the photography skill with my small camera. It is a small camera when compared to my DSLR camera that I use for sports and major events, but it is a little powerhouse when you consider that I can adapt very nice DSLR lenses to fit on this little Canon M50 mirrorless camera. This week I decided to create a flea market dog show.

It would probably not be a surprise to you is I said the pair of Cocker Spaniels at play is my favorite. Have a blessed week.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

This week at 4M the theme is whatever music moves you. In light of recent events in the news, I believe we could all use a little inspiration. There is a better day coming.

Aww…some Monday

It’s late in the season but humming birds have shown up at our feeders the past couple of weeks.

Somehow, you just never think of a humming bird hanging out in a tree, but the love our Red Bud tree that is located only a few feet from the feeders.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

Sometimes a song takes on a life all it’s own. The following song was written by John Denver as a bit of a lament of an entertainer’s life on the road and time spent away from family. However Peter, Paul and Mary recorded the song, during the Vietnam war and it took on a whole new identity as a protest song. When a combat soldier is deployed he/she doesn’t know if they are coming home in a seat or a box. Fortunately, I came home in a seat and only a little worse for wear. Here is Leaving on a Jet Plane.
