I love models. I used to build model cars, planes, and ships as a youngster. I could really get into the modeling of the scenery if time, money and space allowed.
How neat! I’ve only ever seen a complete train set, tracks, all the bells and whistles…one time. I took my first graders to a nearby storage building that was all about trains. One of my kid’s grandpas had invited us. I was wowed!

I love this. My granddaughter and I spent a great of time playing with train sets. Not this nice, but fun nonetheless.

I can certainly see how adults can get caught up in the scenery building aspect of the hobby. Some of these were incredible.

There’s a place near Lancaster PA called Roadside America that reminds me of this – a large space full of model trains and stuff made to scale. I used to love going there as a kid.

Very cute miniature replicas! Two os the scenes, the one of the coal shed and the one of Main Street, remind me of my Appalachian hometown.

The whole scene can be hypnotizing. I can watch model trains for hours, especially if they are changing tracks and switching cars.
