Aww Mondays

A Happy Place

I love where we live. We moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1987 for work. It was the best thing we ever did. Not long after we relocated, I discovered fishing. There is a great creek just north of town for wade fishing. There is a trout stream about an hour away. There is Beaver Lake about twenty minutes from the house and we own a lot in Bella Vista that gives me access to seven small lakes to fish for bream, blue gill and bass. I don’t own a boat anymore, although I have seriously considered investing in a pre-owned bass boat, but I just don’t think it’s in my best interest any longer. Believe me, that was hard to admit. So, this chair and the nearest dock have become my “Happy Place”. Thankfully I have several happy places nearby.
Monday’s Music Moves Me
This week at 4M is a freedom of choice week so I get to pick any music I prefer. I think I will migrate back into inspirational music. I grew up with the hymns of the church and they are still near and dear to my heart. I was also inspired by the early “Contemporary Christian” artists like Dallas Holm, Sandy Patti, and Russ Taff. I still like newer artists like Zach Williams, Jeremy Camp, and Lauren Daigle. And then there’s southern gospel…I love southern gospel. So here are a few songs and artists that I have in my worship playlist.
One of my favorite groups over the past 20+ years has been Mercy Me. They have produced music that has spoken to me through some of the most difficult days of my life. Now that I clearly have more days behind me on this planet that those that remain ahead of me it is comforting to know that God has already prepared a place for me to spend eternity and I am Almost Home.
One only has to look at this world in which we live and realize that mankind is not good by nature. We are arrogant, rebellious, self-centered, greedy, and unkind to one another. Our streets are filled with crime, sex trafficking plagues this world, and people everywhere live in fear and poverty. For the Christian, we can look forward to that day when when 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 become a reality. The trumpet will sound, the eastern sky will split and the King of kings will come with those saints who have passed before us and we will meet our Lord in the air. This is reserved only for those who claim the name of Jesus as Lord and Savior. That will be the day “When We All Get To Heaven”!
I look forward to that day when I meet my Savior and I take possession of my mansion. What will my new neighborhood be like. Scripture (Revelation 21:4) tells me that God will wipe away every tear from my eyes; there will be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. That’s my kind of neighborhood. Until then, I will Press On.
Every time I read His Word I find a new reason to Praise the Lord. Have a blessed week.
Happy Labor Day. It’s important to love where you live because that is your life. Glad you are so happy there and the fishing spot looks very relaxing. It is a wonderful hobby for a lot of people.

This part of the country just suits our lifestyle and the people are great. The fishing could have been a little better on this day.

I always enjoy the fishing, even when the fish aren’t biting.

Miss Lucy is always a delight to see. I love your way of fishing and it’s a lot less work and costs so little. Boats are expensive.
I always enjoy your music picks.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Happy Labor Day. 🙂

I have to admit that my current way of fishing is much easier on the pocket book than when I had my bass boat. Still, that boat was a joy to fish out of.

…well my friend I’m batting zero today, none of these are familiar for me. I guess that I have some catching up to do. Take care and keep the music playing.

Hello my friend…. and you also my friend. Right now I just got word from my step-brother who moved to Michigan who lives right next to a lake. He’s a fisherman so I’m not surprised, but we were invited to come see his new place. So it’s good timing due to my sister-in-law just got out of the hospital, so I can go there and help her a bit, but we’ll also find time to take a ride on his Pantoon boat… woo hoo! That I can do… there’s no wave wopping on that… hehehe So, have a great weekend my friend. I won’t be gone until Wednesday next week to home on Friday eve. So I’ll be around on Monday. Have a fun & safe weekend & good health for you & yours! hugs

Driller,
Fishing isn’t my thing but it’s a favorite pastime for many. I remember my childhood neighbors. The husband enjoyed fishing. I remember one night he caught a large snapping turtle. That thing scared me to death. You mentioned some oldie contemporary christian artists that I loved listening to in the 80s and still do. There’s nothing like praise mewsic to rock the soul. Like you, I’m looking forward to the day when I can stroll down those streets of gold at any hour of eternity without worry. We’ll be all of one like mind. No more fear of crime and violence. It’ll be an even better neighborhood then the one Mr. Rogers sang about. 🙂 Thanks for filling my cup this morning with songs of worship. Your song features are well with my soul. Stay safe, be well, and have a boogietastic week, my friend!

I may have to do a throwback playlist featuring some of those artists from the early years of contemporary Christian music. The closer I get to my eternal home, the more I look forward to being there. Have a blessed week.

My favorite was the one song I knew “Almost Home”. I’m not into fishing but my son is – he had many happy hours as a child fishing in a creek near our home.

The old joke about boats applies to me. I enjoyed my boat but I was glad to get rid of it. Now that I am retired I am thinking of fishing again.
