Aww…some Monday

This little Santa is over 60 years of age. He stands about 14 inches tall and was a promotional item from Coca Cola in the late 50’s. A friend of my parents worked in a Coca Cola bottling plant and when these appeared in the office, she secured one and gave it to my mother. This year Santa is standing next to a small tree in the home office that is dressed in an outdoor theme. That carton of Coke in the foreground is a commerative product celebrating the Arkansas Razorbacks men’s basketball national championship in 1994. You will probably see more of that tree and decorations in a later post.
Christmas Music Marathon Day 4
Seven hundred years prior to the birth of Christ, the prophet Isaiah give us a description of the Savior and His mission in this world. Isaiah told us that the Messiah would come to this earth in human form and there would be nothing unique about His appearance (Isaiah 53:1-3). Luke 1:26 – 37 tells the story of Mary receiving the news from an angel of the Lord that she would soon give birth to the Savior of mankind. This announcement must have been overwhelming to the teen aged mother to be. The question comes to mind, “Mary Did You Know?
And what about Joseph? How would he react to the news that the woman he was engaged to was already expecting her first child and they had not even gotten married yet. Matthew 1:18-25 tells us that the angel of the Lord delivered the news to Joseph and the couple were obedient to the will of the Creator. After all, “It Wasn’t His Child.”
I’ve seen that awesome decoration before. What a treasure.
I love both of the videos too. I always do. What a great time to enjoy your Christmas Marathon once again.

That Santa is so cool and classic. Very nice. That 1994 Arkansas team had a kid from the San Francisco Bay Area- Darnell Robinson who went to Emery High in Emeryville. I always have to root for Bay Area kids.
Great songs and thanks for sharing your treasures.

In the Clement Moore story, Santa was dressed all in fur. It was Coca Cola that put Santa in red, their own shade of red, to begin. Now we can’t think of him any other way. Wonderful decorations, beautiful music.

This is song is my most favorite song at Christmas time. Oh, it use to be a different one, but now I heard this one & I melted. Let us bow our heads, “Dear Mary you know that I love your son beyond measure and he doesn’t have to do any miracles for us, but all he has to do is hold his tiny hand over our heads because YES, HE IS THE GREAT I AM!” That part really gives me goose bumps & tears of wonder & happiness that we’re always in the presence of “God”! AMEN! God bless you and your whole family my friend, and thank you for posting that song. Just gave me goosebumps for sure. I know they say that the Lord will return to earth one more time, but I sure hope it’s in our time that we may see or feel him just once. Amen
Thank you again Tom… hOPE YOU HAD a great Thanksgiving! God bless!

This Kathy Mattea arrangement is the first version of Mary Did You Know that I ever heard and it is still my favorite. The good news is we are going to see Him throughout all of eternity.

Mary Did You Know is my favorite song of all time, and of course Kathy Mattea does an outstanding job singing it. It Wasn’t His Child is new to me and Sawyer Brown does an excellent job of singing it. Joseph’s faith in Mary is little talked about but can you imagine what their friends and family thought? We know it was a virgin birth but they didn’t!!
