Aww…some Mondays

This is the little tree and sits in the home office. You have already seen the Coca Cola Santa and a few of the ornaments, but I have a few special ornaments that adorn this tree and I would like to share them with you now.

Yes, that is a photo ornament of Lucy, our house princess, but it is the Santa I want to call to your attention. He is 70 years young. My mother bought several plastic ornaments and a small tree for me to decorate when I was a small child. I think the purpose was to keep me out of the main tree.

Yes, this snowman and Santa are from my same childhood tree.

This fishing reel is about 50 years old and is a one that I gave my dad for Christmas one year. I had a friend make a custom rod specifically for this reel. Fishing was a passion of my Dad and he used this reel for a lot of years. I don’t fish with it, but it will always have a special place in the house.

Finally the train engine. Dad worked for the Frisco railroad for over 40 years and his father before him. Dad loved everything about the railroad, especially the glory days of the steam engines. My father passed away on December 16, 2009. We had an evergreen wreath placed at the front of the sanctuary and adorned it with his railroad watch and this little engine. And that is the story behind the special ornaments.
2020 Christmas Music Marathon Day 11
Mark your calendars. It is my understanding that a special presentation will occur on the evening of December 21. Jupiter and Saturn will align in such a way and be so close together that they will resemble the Christmas star. Who knows, perhaps the creator of the universe used this type of phenomenon to announce the birth of His Son. Heaven knows we could use a reminder of the purpose for our annual celebration.
Such a cool tree and lovely songs. Thanks for sharing both. Very nice.

What an amazing tree, and I love that the ornaments have meaning, rather than just look good – which they do! Beautiful song choices today, don’t you just love Christmas music?!

There are meaningful ornaments on every tree in the house. That happens when you’ve been married for 46 years.

How delightful that you have ornaments from your childhood. I loved reading the story behind your special ornaments. Thanks for the clarification on the upcoming heavenly night display. I’d seen a few tweets about it but didn’t know that the alignment to resemble the Christmas star. I will mark my calendar for this astronomical event! “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem” is a song I haven’t heard in a coon’s age. Thanks for sharing it! Your selections today are purrfect. I’m sorry that I missed all of last week but my vision of what I hoped to do and what I actually did not align well. lol Thanks for joining the 4M crew on the dance floor. May the One who’s birth we celebrate this season shine through your life every day which I can honestly say, it does as you’ve blessed me many times with your words and mewsic. Merry Christmas, brother!

From what I understand, the show will take place around dusk in the Northern Hemisphere. If I can ever be a blessing to someone then it is a blessing to me. Have a wonderful week.

Some days it does seem like he’s only been gone a few days. We still talk abut him often.

I have the Nativity scene from when I was little that I inherited from my mother. It’s nice to sit, and look at it and hold the statutes while I wind up the stable to play, “Silent Night”. It always seems to bring a tear to my eye thinking of Christmases way back when when my brother & I use to hurry to the tree on Christmas morning, and how he always made me go in to wake up my mom & dad. Thank you for a wonderful time here at your blog and I enjoyed looking at all your wonderful ornaments, and listening to your awesome tunes that you picked. Merry Christmas my friend.

Some days I just sit at look at one of the trees for a while and remember what was going on in our lives when we bought a particular ornament.

Thank you for sharing your vintage Christmas ornaments with us all. Treasured they are, and you’ve given them many years of loving care, obviously. I didn’t know the first song; I very much enjoyed the Celtic Women.

Beautiful Star of Bethlehem has a Country/Bluegrass sound to it which is not popular for radio play, but I love that song.

Thanks John for sharing these photos and memories. Yes-I read the note from Marian and went to your blog. Love the pics of the tree and the wonderful memories associated with each one. We have a similar small tree here at our cottage on Grand Lake. This is where we isolate and still enjoy life-masking and all…
I also appreciate knowing about the planets on December 21st. One of your friends said it was suppose to occur about dusk, so I think I will still be awake and will watch for it.😉

It is sooooo good to hear from you! Yes, even if I have to load up on caffeine to stay awake, I plan on watching something that will only happen once in our lifetime.
