Aww…some Monday’s Music Moves Me

Aww…Monday – Model Railroading

Recently there was a model train show at the local fairgrounds. All of the scenery for the display above is Lego’s! It was very impressive.

I have a soft spot for trains because my dad worked for the Frisco Railroad for 42 years. One Christmas he bought me a Lionel set to play with around the Christmas tree. The problem was that I could hang out at the depot and ride the real trains, so why would I bother with a toy? Big mistake. I like hanging out at the train show and getting a few photos of the lay-outs and the operators.

This lay-out caught my eye because of the train. It is a model of the Frisco “Texas Special”. The Texas Specail was a joint effort between the MK&T and the Frisco to provide service from St. Louis to San Antonio. I own some paper place mats from the dining car of the Texas Special.

One of the coolest displays was this lay-out in a trailer. You just hook it up and take it to any show in the country.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

This week a a fee choice week at 4M. I thought I would stay with the railroad and develop a playlist based on train music.

  1. Hubby loves trains, my granddaughter loves trains. I love riding on them and watching the world go by. How fun and I would have enjoyed visiting this show.

The music flows right along the tracks. Well done. Great train playlist.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a traintastic Awww Monday and week, my friend. 🙂

  2. I love model train layouts as well, and real trains. I worked for the oil and gas sub of Union Pacific for several years and I kept my 12 shares of stock and it is worth it to get the UP calendar every year!!

Turns out that my grandfather on my mother’s side and my great great grandfather on my dad’s side both worked for UP years ago. So that makes me a legacy right??

I guess that I am going to have to enter the music moves me meme at some point. You are so creative in what you come up with.

  3. Very nice train playlist. So enjoyed Chattanooga Choo-Choo with Dorothy Dandridge and all that great tap dancing. I never had a train set growing up – neither did my husband but he was able to play (sometimes) with his cousin’s. I enjoy train travel – my first time was in 1966 during a plane strike, and it was unforgettable.

  4. Model trains are so amazing to see. People can do such fantastic things with the scenery and buildings. The trains are there, but it is the rest that is so fun to see, and the people put so much of their lives into this fun hobby.

  5. These beautiful train displays remind me how much I loved seeing the Dept. 56 Christmas villages set up in Pigeon Forge. It’s so cool to see the various displays. DH got me started collecting the New England Dept. 56 Christmas Village in the early 90s. I don’t have a lot of the pieces but enough for a nice set up. If we had more space then I can see myself expanding my village and even setting up a new, different one in other rooms. That would be fun! Excellent theme for today’s ‘your choice’ song picks. I love the sound of a train whistle in the distance! Have a boogietastic week, my friend!
