Aww…some Mondays
We are entering the end of an era. This is our grandson and he will graduate from high school next spring. That will mean that all of our grandchildren have graduated and we will be something similar to “Empty Nesters” again. We have spent summer vacations together, attended baseball games, soccer matches, track meets, choir concerts, and dance competitions involving the grand kids. That era is coming to an end with the graduation of the big guy. It’s been a great adventure.
Monday’s Music Moves Me
This week the theme at 4M is songs that feature fantasy, magic, or fairy tales Let’s see what we can find.
Mom says it is a bit sad that the nieces and nephews are all grown up and on their own. It all happens so quickly. Hope you enjoyed your 4th of July.

It’s only natural that we want to keep the family at a certain phase so we can just continue to enjoy the kids, but life goes on and each new chapter will bring new adventures.

The ending of an era but at some point the great-grands will come. Still, it’s a time to be wistful. Like this music from my growing up years. Where do I start? My husband had almost all the Steppenwolf albums (on vinyl). Nice hearing a live performance. “Do You Believe in Magic” brings back a lot of memories for me. As for Elton John – we have almost all of his 70’s albums, including Captain Fantastic.and the Brown Dirt Cowboy. I hadn’t heard the title song in so long, though. Really paid attention to the lyrics -I even remembered some of them. Thank you for this set.

I had a couple of Steppenwolf albums but I think I had nearly every Elton John Album from the beginning to the mid-seventies, including the elusive soundtrack to the movie Friends. Not many know about that collection of songs.

First the kids grow up and now the grandkids…what’s next? Wouldn’t be great if we could keep them small just a little longer? This is the natural order, though. The best we can d is enjoy each phase of our wee ones’ lives. Your grandson was a cutie-pie! I’m sure he’s grown into an equally handsome fella. I loved your song picks for this week. Elton John was a big part of my teen years. “Puff the Magic Dragon” is the only 45 I can remember owning as a kid. My folks got me a little red suitcase style record player for my birthday with that record. I was in heaven! Thanks for joining the 4M and birthday girl on the dance floor today. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

Elton John was my favorite music during my mid-twenties to early thirties.
And yes, the grand son is now 6′-3″ and a great kid.

There will be new adventures for sure. We will likely just be less involved.

My friend you have made my day! Yes, I do believe in magic. I think that’s how I finally met my husband. I was a wrong number and we began to talk & ended up talking 2 1/2 hrs on the 4th of July. You see I was divorced & then my X died & then my hubby came along when I was the most tired & I had 4 kids to raise. It’s a long story, but I’ve never been so happy. Let’s just say I’m still on that magic carpet ride!!! Your grandson is adorable… I have a granddaughter I’d love for him to meet. hehehehe Have a great day my friend. Hope you had a great 4th!!!!
