Awesome Mondays

The Graduate

Last week was a busy week at our house. We had a couple of events to attend, but the biggest event came Sunday afternoon when the last grandchild, the only grandson, graduated from high school. Graduation was originally scheduled for Saturday morning, but two inches of rain cancelled the ceremonies and pushed them to Sunday afternoon. Our post graduate party was scheduled for Sunday at 2:00 p.m. but had to be pushed back to 4:00 p.m. It was a long and very special day.

Nana has made a t-shirt quilt for each of the grandchildren. I think I enjoy the memories captured in these quilts as much and the kids.

This year all four grand kids brought their quilts home and I captured an image of all of the quilts. This represents four graduations over the past eight years, but the the t-shirt collection started by our daughter began over twenty years ago. There is a lot of love in these quilts. This is what being a family is all about.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

It’s another free choice week at 4M and like Curious Cathy, I have recently re-discovered an artist. A friend of mine gave me a vintage vinyl that he picked up at a local store. The artist is Steve Winwood his music is a joy to the ears. Have a blessed week.

Awww on all the quilts. If you’ve shown these before I missed them. What a wonderful thing to do. They will be cherished indeed. What a wonderful family you have.

Love the videos. I’ll try to do one the first of the month.

  2. Congrats to the grandson! Your wife is a great Nana to make these memory quilts for each of the grandkids. I know they’ll treasure them for years and one day they’ll tell their children how great Nana made it for them. Steve Winwood is a joy to listen to. He has a great voice and you picked some great tunes. Thanks for joining the Monday’s Music Moves Me dance floor today. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

  3. Congrats to your youngest grandson! I don’t come from a quilt making tradition but one of my husband’s cousins had one of these quilts made for her daughter and I thought, what a wonderful idea. Now I see four of them all together and I’m sure these will all be treasured keepsakes. I’m here rocking out to your Steve Winwood selections. I tried commenting yesterday and had a lot of problems – I think it was my browser, but things are working this morning. Great set! Alana ramblinwitham.
