Aww…some Monday’s Music Moves Me

Aww Mondays

Friday was National Dog Day so I thought I would post a photo of our House Princess for the occasion. Saturday I got up and went to the local farmers market on the town square. There are always lots of people with canines wandering the vendor booths. I sat down on a bench, pulled out my camera and captured a few other furry friends.

One of the most popular breeds today are “Doodles”. A doodle is almost any breed that has been crossbred with a poodle to produce a curly, soft coated, hypo-allergenic, non shedding designer dog. There are labra doodles, golden doodles, irish doodles, and cockapoo(dle). One surprise is that not all doodles are non shedding. If the native breed sheds, chances are the doodle will shed as well. That should be a caution to prospective labra doodle owners, because labs shed twice a year and you can fill a pillow a day with what they shed. Anyway, doodles generally are easy going, friendly critters and make excellent pets. As for me…well, once a cocker spaniel lover, always a cocker spaniel lover.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

The theme this week at 4M is NO theme. We can post whatever music we like. I think I will dig into the archives and feature a few male country vocalists that may have been a little under appreciated when they were recording and touring. What most people consider classic or pure country music is filled with songs about broken hearts, broken dreams, and broken cowboys. So get your boot scootn’ shoes on and lets two-step into the way-back machine. Here we go.

Let’s wrap this post up with a country gospel tune from Josh Turner. Have a blessed week.

  1. Miss Lucy is always a wonderful awww. Love the doodles. Hubby says no more pups. To hard to lose them and I’ll abide by his wishes. I love to people watch too. Always a fun thing to do.

    Love your playlist today.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a blessed day and week, my friend. 🙂

  2. Happy National Dog Day, Lucy! You are looking good. We are tired of Doodles. They are not a breed, they just mixes. We see signs on the road a lot advertising Doodles for sale which is not a good thing. If you have to put signs up to sell puppies there is a problem. Poodles can be trimmed up to look like a Doodle, so why not just get a Poodle.

    1. I know what you mean. Today I saw a post of an Aussie-doodle. Personally, I think a Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier meets all of the requirements. Like I said, for me…once a cocker spaniel lover, always a cocker spaniel lover.

  3. We had hotdogs for dinner last night. Oh you’re not talking about that kind of dog, right? lol I always wondered about the various poodle-looking canines walking on leashes. I like the idea that poodles are hypo-allergenic but this wouldn’t be my first breed if I were to get a dog. I love labradors but I don’t like the idea that they shed. You did a fantastic job capturing some four-legged furriends and I really enjoyed your music set this morning, especially Josh Turner “I Saw the Light”, another favorite childhood gospel hymn. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

    1. I find it funny how a mixed breed has become so popular and expensive. 10 years ago no one would give you a hundred dollar bill for a doodle. Now, a thousand won’t buy one. The search for these songs was most enjoyable. I may feature one of the artists in a future post.

  4. Sharp/nice dog pictures taken in, I’m thinking, early morning light (?). I learned more about doodles – I’ve never been a dog owner and never realized that doodles don’t shed unless the non-poodle parent is of a shedding breed. Of your songs “Tougher Than the Rest” was my favorite but I also enjoyed the voice of Josh Turner. Alana ramblinwitham

  5. I liked that doodle information. My Lucy is a lab and I never knew about labs shedding. But what’s it matter? Nothing to me. There will never be another Lucy.
