Aww…some Monday’s Music Moves me

Aww…some Monday’s

Above is an image of parents and grandparents forming a lane for the kids to run through before their soccer match. Our grand daughter and her husband are adopting a boy, so that will make us great-grandparents, but that’s another story. Last week I promised one of the commenters a tip for better sports photos. Below is the original image.

You will notice that the horizon (defined by the food truck) is crooked, there is negative space to the left and way too much empty space above the people. Go to your editing software and straighten the horizon. Next crop the image to eliminate boring space or distractions. Finally, sharpen the image and adjust the exposure if necessary. All three things have been done to the top image. Here is another example.

This is the image straight out of the camera. Again, there is too much boring space, too many distractions, and maybe a little too much blue. So let’s make some magic.

I cropped the image, sharpened the image and converted it to black & white for a little drama. Now all attention is on the subject. It’s really not that hard. Just spend a few minutes enhancing the photo before you post it. Have a blessed week.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

The challenge at 4M this week is to build a playlist of single word song titles, single name bands, or single name artists. Here ya go.

First up, with a one word song title, is Sir Elton John with one of his early hits, Levon.

Next on the list is the legendary band with only one member still living. Cream members Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker are gone and only Eric Clapton remains. The song, White Room.

Finally an artist that is identified by a single name is Jewel, the song is “You Were Meant For Me.”

  1. “It’s really not that hard,” is what people say when they are good at something the rest of us would take a lifetime to learn to do and still not master because we don’t have the feel for it. You have a skill, an eye, i just don’t have, my skills lie elsewhere. It’s all good, we all have different skills so we can get all the work done.

    You always pick excellent music.

Not only was this a great set, but it reminded me that I intended to include “Badge” by Cream in my post (I posted today) and forgot to. Oh well. . Loved Cream’s live performance in the middle video. Also, all great photography suggestions. Alana ramblinwitham

    1. Some days the editing is the savior of the day. Fortunately, I like the process and will spend time just playing with old photos to experiment with different filters.

    1. I think being a great-grand parent is going to be a special adventure. Unfortunately they live a little too far away for us to participate in the little things like soccer, t-ball, etc.

I like how you show the before & after pictures. Great advice about touching up photos. Right now I’m thinking of all the pics we have of our heads cut off in the picture because my mom couldn’t centre things correctly. I had no idea that Clapton is the only one left from Cream…that’s a shame. I enjoyed the music.

    1. Yes, every family has a box filled with blurry, headless relatives and events that have long been forgotten. That needs to be a winter project for me…de-clutter the photo collection.
