Aww…some Monday – Birthday Boy

This young man had a birthday last week. He turned 20!

And he’s 6-4″. The Big Guy also has completed his trade school training as an electrical lineman and is in the process of finding his first “Adult” job. Considering the current job market of skilled trades, it shouldn’t take long.
Monday’s Music Moves Me
This week the theme at 4m is music from the movies. I am going to take my cue from Curious-As-A-Cathy and make my selections from a single film…Dirty Dancing.
I took social ballroom dancing in junior high and high school. I developed a love for music and dancing during those years. I still like both, but old age and a knee replacement ahs severely hampered my ability and desire to hit the dance floor, but not my love for a good dance beat.
These clips will take you back to a great movie and some of the songs will take you all the way back to the mid 50’s. Here we go.
Have a blessed week!
Happy Birthday! That is so awesome that he took an interest in an trade and learned it. Those jobs are amazing and we need more people to go into those fields.

Yes, his education took one year and cost less than $10,000 + living expenses. He graduated debt free and is now looking for his first “Adult” job. We believe he will be employed very soon.

Congrats on your son’s graduation. I missed my calling in life and should have gone to trade school. My seventh-grade interest survey told me, above all else, to be an auto mechanic. The second choice was teacher, which I did for over thirty years. I should have been a mechanic! Dirty Dancing is another one of my favorite movies. Thanks for posting!

Fortunately I was able to do what I loved. I wasn’t the best in the business but I enjoyed going to work every day.

Happy Birthday to the Birthday Boy! They sure don’t stay little long, do they? Our grandson finally made it into the world on Friday. I’m sure to blog about this in the coming days. It’s been really hectic here ever since Daddy’s heart attack and death. I want you to know that I appreciated your prayers so much. I am at peace knowing Daddy is with the Lord and one day, I’ll see him again.
You picked a great movie with fantastic music! This is one of those feel-good films. Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray had real chemistry on the Big Screen. We often talk about taking dance lessons. Maybe, we’ll break down to give it a try before we break down. 🙂 Thanks for sharing some music to put the groove in my move this morning. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

I am so sorry to hear about your dad, but you are right, he is more healed today than he has ever been and he will see you again one day.
I really liked what you did with the theme and I thought I would find another movie to feature. Have a blessed week.

Thank you for your words of comfort. Yes, Daddy is now made new in the sight of the Lord. I wouldn’t deny him of the joy he knows now even though I really want him here. I will see him again. 🙂

Dirty Dancing, great movie. Jennifer Gray, Patrick Swayze, Jerry Orbach … and my favorite “cousin” spinning tunes.

The little boy looks like he is ready for the train! He’s not so little any more! Time flies by in a flash. I have not seen Dirty Dancing because…I am not a fan of Jennifer Grey who, it seems, really got under the skin of Patrick Swayze, a consummate professional. I can see why because she was a whiner on Dancing with the Stars. I also hate that they call her Baby..why? Blechhh. I love Dancing but that’s enough for me. I love Patrick Swayze who would have been a big dance man during the great heyday of the movie musical. He would have kept Gene Kelly on his toes because they do the same athletic style of dance.

I think I’ve only seen the movie on TV but I enjoyed it very much. Some days you just have to work through your differences and Patrick Swayze apparently did exactly that. Have a blessed week.

Patrick Swayze – swoon time! Loved the clips. Loved watching the Five Satins dance and sing. A fun post. Happy belated birthday to your grandson. He made the right choice. We need more people in the skilled trades. It’s a perfect path for those with the skills. Alana ramblinwitham
