Aww…some Monday’s Music Moves Me

I am going to feature the same event in Aww…some Monday and Monday’s Music Moves Me. Last Wednesday night Joe Bonamassa was in town for a concert. I bought tickets in April and have been looking forward to this event for months. He did not disappoint. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Joe Bonamassa, he is one of the best blues gutiarists to ever step on the stage. At the age of 12 he opened for BB King. At the age of 26 he recorded his first album, Blues Express, and it is still being sold. He has had 27 no.1 hits on the blues charts. Joe has shared the stage with Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, BB King, and Albert King.

Last Wednesday night Joe took the stage at 8:00 pm (no opening act) and played for just over two hours without a break. It was an Awe…some evening.

    1. You can find more of his work on YouTube. His whole band is world class. The keyboard player is a member of the Rock & Roll hall of fame. Reese Wynans sat in on the sessions that became the Allman Borthers and toured with Stevie Ray Vaughn. Yes, Reese is 76 years young and still hammering the keyboards like no other.

    1. The live sound is unbelievable. Joe uses a variety of vintage guitars and amplifiers to pay homage to the great blues artists of the past. Several of his instruments were played by blues greats from the 50’s and 60’s. His concerts are a treat for the ears.

Love your photos. Loved your selections. Few musicians of Joe’s fame come to the immediate area where I live in New York State – what a treat it must have been. If I wish hard enough maybe he’ll show up for our annual outdoors Blues on the Bridge in September. Wouldn’t that be something. (Birgit, are you reading this? Does your brother, if he knows Joe, have any pull with him?) Alana ramblinwitham
