Aww…some Monday’s Music Moves Me

This week I am going to combine Aww…some Monday with Monday’s Music Moves Me. The theme this week at 4M is songs that make you think of a tropical paradise. The problem is, I am not really a tropical beach guy. Several years ago my wife and I took the cruise of a life time in Hawaii and I loved every minute of it. We saw sights we will never see again this side of heaven. The flowers were magnificent and the coast line was a sight to behold. Still, it was good to come home and back to our own little piece of paradise right here in Northwest Arkansas. Saturday morning I went to the local farmers market and just captured a few images of my heaven on earth, just hanging out on the square doing a little people watching.

Since my photos aren’t tropical, neither is my music. Friday, my wife and I went to see Twisters. It is a good movie, maybe better than the first. One thing that struck us was the awesome soundtrack. I grew up in Oklahoma and tornadoes were just a fact of life as was country and country rock. The state that gave us Bob Wills, Gene Autry, Vince Gill, and Garth Brooks also gave us Boz Skaggs, Elvin Bishop, and Leon Russell. The soundtrack from Twisters has music from some of country music’s current superstars and it is a treat for the ears. Here is a sample. Have a blessed week.

  1. I’m not a beach or a tropical island destination person. Like you I find paradise in my neck of the woods. When we’re in the mountains, it’s interesting how the clouds settle in the valley with the tops stick through which makes me think of islands surrounded by the ocean. It’s so beautiful to witness such moments. Thanks for sharing your song picks inspired by your local and trip to the movies. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

I remember the original Twister all too well. My then young son must have worn out our VHS tape; he loved that movie so. I hesitate to get into candid photography and, perhaps for that reason, I enjoyed your pictures. Nice playlist, too, just perfect for the setting of the movie. I discovered Jelly Roll perhaps a year or so ago. He sings in a number of genres and this was the first country song of his that I’ve heard. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
