Aww…some Monday

Monday’s Music Moves Me

The theme this week at 4M is to pick a calendar day of celebration. Every day on our calendar is a national day to celebrate one or more things. September has some very good opportunities to celebrate.

September 1, is National Forgiveness Day. There are a lot of reasons to have a forgiving spirit and one is the fact that it is good for your health. All of us know that stress is the source of many health issues facing our society and the stress from anger or holding a grudge is of no value to your health. Getting even with someone who has offended you or caused your anger brings no real satisfaction, or joy and often increases our stress levels because we are worried that we have started something that we can’t finish will be a source of worry and aggravation for much longer than we anticipated. Lifetime relationships are strained to the breaking point over something that really wasn’t worth fussing about.

The first Monday of September is Labor day and we celebrate the spirit of the American worker and this great Nation that was built by the blood, sweat, and tears of those who came before us and forged the greatest Nation on earth out of the forests, streams, and mountains that provided the natural resources, and raw materials necessary to provide the life that many of us enjoy. Don’t ever believe politicians, from either party, when they tell you they have created millions of job and are responsible for our economy. This nation was built by business men and women and the workers of this country. The government’s only source of income is our tax dollars and they redistribute it in often unwise ways that has a negative impact on the economy. Don’t get me wrong, business owners often enter into foolish investments that cause harm to the quality of life for the rest of us, but business owners are looking for increased profits and a better life while politicians are merely looking for power.

September 11. Enough said.

Other days we can celebrate in September include Grandparents Day, Hug Your Hound Day, American Pot Pie Day, National Cheeseburger Day, and for you who can’t get enough of a good cheeseburger there is National Double Cheeseburger Day, and I close with National Dance Day. So wake up every morning and look for something to celebrate that will put a smile on your face and a little happiness in your heart.

For my calendar day theme I am going to pick Forgiveness Day because it allows me to explore a genre that I truly love, Gospel music. There is no greater forgiveness than that spoken of Christ by the apostle John “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” Enjoy.

Years and years ago, I was truly perplexed by people who forgave a murderer. But then someone my husband and I know lost her son, murdered in a convenience store robbery. This was years ago. I think what I’ve come to understand is that you are not forgiving the act (that can’t be done by us, anyway) but allowing ourselves to let go of anger and the control that person has of our emotions. It’s still a hard concept but I’m closer to understanding it. The music: The last song had that gospel sound that I really like. It’s hard to describe but I know it when I hear it. I guess I didn’t mess up on the theme. It was a little confusing: any national day or grandmas and vanilla ice cream. ??

    Happy Monday!
