Aww…some Monday’s Music Moves Me

Spring is in the air in Northwest Arkansas but one has to be cautious about rushing the season. We have had cold spell in March and April. A few years ago we had a foot of snow just prior to Mother’s Day, so planting tender flowers too early can be an expensive mistake. On the bright side, birds are beginning to come to the feeder in variety and number. Here are a few examples.

You might expect the Cardinal to be a winter visitor but they are pretty much year-round residents.

Mocking birds are more frequently found in the rural parts of the county rather than amongst us city dwellers.

Robins are starting to show up and that is a sure sign that nest building will begin soon. They don’t seem to be the sharpest tack in the box, as I have seen them set up housekeeping in some very questionable locations.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

The theme this week at 4M is…Mar 16th yesterday was the “Ides of March” and tomorrow is St Patrick’s Day. Based on these find song picks to express whichever occasion inspires you.

I have chosen the Ides of March.According to the Roman calendar, the Ides are a monthly occurrence. In March and other months with 31 days, the Ides always falls on the 15th; it falls on the 13th in months with 30 days. The Ides traditionally marked the arrival of the new Moon and was cause for celebration. The word “Ides” is derived from Latin, meaning “to divide.”

  1. Love all the birds and we have lots here too. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be 90 degrees. Way to early for that.

  2. Great bird shots! Mockingbirds are aggressive. They’ll attack you if you get to close to their nest. One got after me once, I had no idea what I did. I was walking on the side walk, going from one store to another when out of the blue one charged me. Scared me to death! Now, I keep my eye open for them. 🙂 I enjoyed your music. Thanks for sharing. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

I enjoyed all of your bird pictures, and also the moon theme. I never would have thought about associating the Moon with the Ides of March. Moon River and Blue Moon were favorite songs from my childhood, and I enjoyed Moonlight Serenade, also. Alana ramblinwitham

  4. I don’t know much about robins, but for sheer nest building awfulness, you cannot beat the doves. They build terrible nests in unsuitable places which then fall apart. I can’t tell how many baby doves we’ve rescued.

Your musical selections are always excellent.

  5. Beautiful bird pics! We’ve had hints of spring, but still pretty cold here. Hopefully, that will change soon. Thanks for the info about “Ides” and the moon concert. I hadn’t known about that connection. 🌕
