Aww…some Monday’s Music Moves Me

We spent the March 6-13 in Arizona visiting our middle grand daughter, taking in some Spring Training Baseball, and seeing the sights. It was an awesome week. During our stay, the temperature never got above 85, but as soon as we left the thermometer rose into triple digits.

Our grand daughter works for the Athletics major league baseball team, so we got tickets to a couple of the games. We spent one day at the training facility just walking around, watching players and coaches interact, and shooting some photos. Spring Training is such a relaxed atmosphere for the visitor, but I know the players are under pressure to preform and make a team, major league or minor league class A, AA, or AAA. Some are hoping to preform well enough to go to the majors, even if it means they get traded and wind up in a different location. It’s a lot of pressure for some 18-24 year olds to bear, especially those who are away from home for the first time and home is the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, or Venezuela.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

I can’t think of a more appropriate song for this post. In many minor league parks, it has actually replaced “Take Me Out to The Ballgame” for the seventh inning stretch. Have a blessed week.

PLAY BALL!!!

You had a great week with your grand child. My brother played ball since he was 7. He was forced to stop because he had to have a knee replacement. Love that song

  3. It was an awesome experience. My son-in-law and I both played ball through high school. The husbands of two grand daughters went to college on baseball scholarships and one of them spent a year in the minors.

What an opportunity to peek behind the scenes you had, and watching the Centerfield video was an absolute delight. (Yes, I love the song, too.) I didn’t get to meet him but I think one of my greatest baseball joys was being able to see the late Bob Feller pitch at an Old Timers Game in Cooperstown, New York in 2009. He was a young 90 years old at the time. I also enjoyed your spring training photos – something to treasure for you. Alana ramblinwitham

  5. Excellent photography session! You do such a good job capturing the action. I’m sure y’all had a wonderful time. The temperatures surely got hot. We were in the mid 80s over the weekend. That’s just too warm and too early for us. The end of April sure but March? Oh well…you did fabulous with your song pick. Everyone loves Centerfield! Have a boogietastic week, my friend and thanks for joining the 4M party. 🙂
