Aww…some Monday

This past month I picked up two awesome lenses for my DSLR camera. One is a major upgrade in the telephoto department. I shoot a Nikon D500 camera, which is an awesome camera but not one of the latest mirrorless models. I just can’t see rebuilding my photo equipment at my age. I mean we’re talking thousands of dollars for the new generation of cameras and lenses. My newest lens is a pre-owned 150-600mm lens for sports and wildlife. Let’s just say, “It allows me to get up close and personal with the critters while maintaining a safe distance.” That’s important when you don’t want to spook a deer or a hawk. It certainly works for butterflies.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

The first sandwich was allegedly made on August 6, 1762, and was given the Lord of Sandwich’s name.  The dish consisted of meat placed between two slices of bread, which he requested because he was in the middle of a gambling game and did not want to interrupt it.

This week’s prompt is sandwich. Build a sandwich (acrostic) with your favorite song picks, find song titles, lyrics, or band names with sandwich or items found on a sandwich. This is a lite assignment, the object is to have fun!

If a hot dog can be considered a type of sandwich then onions are an item found on that sandwich, especially a chili-cheesedog. They might even be Green Onions!

Hamburgers are one of the most popular sandwiches in the country and there are regional favorites. I have learned that in one region of Michigan the Olive burger is a big deal. Personally, I don’t see how green olives can be a compliment to a burger. In Oklahoma charcoal grilled burgers over hickory wood is the flavor of choice for many diners, including myself. In the southeast slaw is a favorite condiment. According to the Kentucky Headhunters you can find slaw burgers at Dumas Walker.

    We prefer to stick with our camera and not get a whole new one. It is a lot of work and practice learning to use a new model. Mom has a mirrorless from maybe ten or more years ago and it works great. Glad you were able to get some new lenses for your camera. The butterflies look amazing!

    I’m right there with you – I bought a Nikon D5000 back in 2010, and while I keep reading about the mirrorless cameras being awesome, I’m not ready to further invest when I already have a complete setup (and even all these years later, still learning!) I even have a couple of film cameras I’m hanging onto. Because sometimes ‘old school’ is best! 😅

    Great song choices! My mom loves chopped onions on her hotdogs, especially if it’s a chili dog. I got that from her! 😉

    I bought my D500 in 2017 for action and sports because it shoots at 10 frames per second when needed. It is an awesome camera for my purposes these days. I have several lenses for specific purposes and one of my new-to-me lenses will become my everyday, walking around lens.

    A hot dog just isn’t a hot dog unless it’s a chili-cheese dog with onions.

      As you know by now, I post a greater number of photos on Facebook than I do here.

      I honestly can’t ever remember having a hot dog for breakfast. I have had a tuna salad sandwich to start my day. Have a blessed week my friend.

    Camera equipment is so expensive. You’re wise to buy secondhand in good condition. I don’t see myself buying anything new in the foreseeable future. What I need to do is get back to using my DSLR. I did manage to charge my batteries. I’m making progress. 😀 Excellent image captures!

    My favorite way to have hot dogs is with home-made chili, onions, and slaw. But, I’ll eat them with chili and onions. Unfortunately, I don’t eat too many of them anymore because processed meats do not set well on my stomach. It’s such a shame, too.

    Hamburgers are my absolute favorite. Generally, when I make them I like turning mine into a cheeseburger with all the works and sometimes I’ll throw a jalapenos on for a bit of spice. In fact, one of my favorite pizzas is my cheeseburger jalapeno. Soooo good! I have not heard of the olive burger and I’m not too sure about adding slaw to a burger. Neither really grab me.

      Between a local camera store, three sources on the web, and facebook marketplace, I can find anything I desire. With the whole world using mirrorless cameras, all of my equipment has to come from the second had market. I’m okay with that. I love what mirrorless can do, I’m just not at a place in life where switching to a whole new system makes sense.

      Sitting here thinking about hotdogs, I think mustard, chili and a really good salsa would work, but mustard, chili, cheese and onions is my go to combo.

    I have never owned either an SLR (film days) or a DSLR, despite my enjoyment of picture taking since I was a preteen. I’ve owned various point and shoot cameras but when I got my first iPhone (a 4S) I abandoned my camera and never looked back, although I could take better photos with my camera. Music: I knew Green Onions but not the other song. I had never heard of olive burgers but I would give one a try.       Sorry, your comment wound up in the spam file for some reason. I bought my first real camera in 1967 and have always had a “real camera (SLR/DSLR) in my possession ever since. I like them because they make me pause and think about composition and background. The new IPhone cameras are awesome and some professionals use them quite often. Thanks for stopping by.

    I bought my first real 35mm film camera while serving in Vietnam and have loved photography ever since. I went several years without shooting many photos. I never learned how to develop my own film so I always had to have the processing done. When digital cameras first appeared I bought one and it changed everything. Glad you enjoy the photos.
