Mom is so sad Dolly is gone. What a woman she was and she will not be forgotten.

I think Dolly was the single most influential woman in the history of country music. She learned that the entertainment business was indeed a business and she became a very smart business woman.

The first hummingbird photo is an award winner. Dolly Parton, we will miss you so much. Each passing hour I learn more about the charitable work she did. I also learned today that the son of the doctor who delivered her lives an hour from where I live in New York State and that Dolly wrote a song about this doctor, who served his mountain community well. The son went on to teach at a state university in Oneonta, New York. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

The news about Dolly was a gut punch. Unexpected to me. And from 71, 80 doesn’t seem all that old any longer. What a treasure she was. Not only a nice person but from what I read, a very good businesswoman. She kept the publishing rights on all her songs even though it cost her when she started out. Something that Elvis and Willie Nelson couldn’t do.

I will be 80 in November. I have reached the age when, nearly every event I go to, I will be the oldest one entering the room. God has blessed me with better health than I deserve and walked me through some difficult days. I know that I have far more days in my rear view mirror than in my windshield, but I still look forward to whatever future He has planned for me.
