We Had a Baby Shower
Saturday, there was a baby shower at our home in honor of the youngest grand daughter. She is expecting our first great grand daughter, who will join our two great grandsons in the family. If you have followed this blog for any length of time you know this was the soccer player and champion high jumper in high school and college. Now, she is married and bringing her first born into the family. Yes, we’re excited!
The hostesses for the event were her mother, oldest sister and Nana (my wife). They are quite the team.
There were awesome cookies and cake from the very talented folks of a local bakery.
Nana made a very special quilt and pillow for our newest arrival. It will be a generational gift.
There were probably 50 guests in attendance and our girl got some very nice, useful, and practical gifts. All in all, it was a lovely event. The hostesses did an awesome job planning and executing a beautiful shower for the new mother to be.

What an exciting time, and your wife (as usual) did a great job. The decorations around the cake were beautiful. What a beautiful quilt, too. That kind of family support is priceless. Yes, I remember those high jump action photos. I’ll have to come back later this week to listen to the music. We’ve had our fake fall these past few days and summer will be returning tomorrow, but the lighting is changing, pumpkins are in the farm markets along with apples and cider, and true fall is just around the corner. You did a fantastic job preserving wonderful memories for the mommy-to-be. She’ll treasure these snapshots forever! Your wife did a wonderful job on the baby quilt. I know it means a lot to her. 🙂
Our temperatures are above average here and summer is not wanting to let go. By the weekend, we’ll be in the upper 90s. Phew, that’s hot! Thank you for sharing such a nice selection of country songs to say goodbye to the end of summer. Brooks & Dunn has a really nice sound. Have a boogietastic week, Great Grandpops! 🙂

Some things are just worth preserving and others get preserved by simply passing along to the next generation.
For a record twenty-six days in August the temperature topped the century mark in NW Arkansas. September started with another triple digit temp. There will be no fall color…just crusty, dusty brown. There have been years when I wanted summer to linger a little longer but this year I say, “Good riddance as autumn can’t get here soon enough.
