Aww…some Monday

This past week my wife and I drove across town to The Momentary. The Momentary is an art gallery, restaurant, bar/lounge, and outdoor music venue. One of the recent exhibits is truly something special. It is titled, “The Beginning of Convenience” and is a tribute to the small grocery stores that many of us grew up with and there is a nod to the local mega business of Walmart Inc. Everything you see in the following images is either made from felt fabric or covered in felt fabric. Artists name is Lucy Sparrow and the exhibit will be here until July 2027. I cannot imagine the hours required to make everything in this display as it covers over a thousand square feet. The photo area and snack bar are special treats to see.

Just a reminder, everything you see is either made from felt fabric or covered in felt. It is truly an amazing and fun exhibit to explore.

So, if you have a reason to be in Bentonville, AR in the next ten months, this is a fun side visit and it’s free!!

    The cover of Sixteen Tons was great – what a voice. The original Vogues 5 o’clock world is one of my childhood favorites. I liked this playlist (I will never get tired of Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5) and I wish I could travel to Bentonville to visit this exhibit. It’s amazing. Alana ramblinwitham

      The artist on Sixteen Tons, Geoff Castellucci, sings base for the vocal group VoicePlay and he is something special. I chose the Hal Ketchum cover of 5 O’clock World because the sound quality of the Vogues original was not very good, and I like Hal Ketchum. I don’t think anyone tires of Dolly singing anything. Have a blessed holiday.

    Wow, that is amazing! Hopefully when this exhibit is over with there will be a place to preserve these amazing works of art! Mom even noticed the cans of tab in the cooler with the soft drinks. She always drank that years ago but now it isn’t made anymore. What wonderful displays to see.

    Are these like full size displays or miniatures? It’s interesting to say the least. I, especially like the camera shop display. That makes me think of the day when we’d visit our favorite local shop, Thompson’s. I don’t think they’re in business anymore.

    Geoff has an amazing bass vocals. I really like his cover of “Sixteen Tons”. I somehow forgotten “Five O’Clock World”. I like that you also went with Dolly’s “9 to 5” hit!

      The display is full size and covers between 1,000-2000 sq. ft. The photo area is an exact replica of what was found in the earliest of Walmart stores. The original photo area was designed by a friend of mine when he was working at Kodak and before he began working at Walmart. One of his daughters saw the display and called her dad and told him, “You, have to come and see this.” He went down to the display and his family took some photos. It was awesome.
