Aww…some Monday’s Music Moves Me

Aww…some Monday

Our next door neighbor has a huge evergreen tree that is a literal bird condominium and a couple of the residents happen to be American Goldfinch. They come into our flower garden, pick the petals off the zinnias and dine on the seeds. They are truly beautiful creatures. I’m not an expert, but based on the colors I would say this is a male and a female.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

September is National Happy Cat month. You don’t have to have a cat or any animal to share some songs about these adorable four-legged creatures! With that said, we don’t have a cat. We have Lucy. Lucy is our nine year old American Cocker Spaniel and the best dog we have ever owned.

Okay, so what do I do with this music theme? We don’t own a cat, so how about a song from Cat Stevens…

or a song with Cat in the title…

or a song from Three Dog Night. Have a blessed week.

  1. We use to see the goldfinches on occasion in our backyard but haven’t in many years. I suspect the Cardinal keep them away. Great captures! Fabulous music, too. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

  2. I love your photography. Those are most beautiful birds.

Love the videos. That last one was a favorite of mine back in the day.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, my friend. 🙂

  3. Gorgeous images of gorgeous birds! And Awwwww! Lucy! Look at that adorable face!! We have 4 cats and 4 dogs – you know, to keep things ‘even’ and ‘balanced’… the cats keep the dogs in line. Our smallest dog acts like he’s a cat, though. 😆 Great song choices! The hubby suggested some of those to me when I told him the theme, but I went in a sort of different direction. 😉 Thanks for the dance!

I so enjoy your bird and dog pictures (in addition to your other pictures). I am far from an expert birder. The first one, I agree, is a male in breeding plumage. But the second one, to me, seems more like a male molting into non breeding plumage. I still see some of the bright yellow feathers, but the black cap (lost in fall and winter) has disappeared. To me, females have more of a greenish olive tint, but that could be my eyes. Anyway, three great selections. I didn’t even think of Yusef/Cat Stevens. I loved his music from the first time I heard him. The Harry Chapin song is a classic. We owned most of Three Dog Night’s vinyl back in the day. Alana ramblinwitham

    1. Well, I am not a birder at all so I appreciate your info and will go with what you say. I do have a couple of images of goldfinches that are definitely more greenish in color. I’m pretty sure I have seen a mated pair in our neighbor’s tree from time to time.
