Awesome Monday’s Music Moves Me

Aww Mondays

My post Christmas break is over and I am back on the ‘puter. The next couple of months the focus around town will be high school basketball and since I like photographing high school sports you’re going to get to see a few of the local teams in action. Here is a few images from last week’s boys game. The home team dominated the visitors from start to finish.

Monday’s Music Moves Me

This week the theme at 4M is free choice. Several months before Christmas I assembled a new stereo system from components I found in flea markets and on FaceBook Marketplace. I must say, I am quite proud of myself for putting this system together at bargain basement prices. I have an Onkyo reciever and 6-disc CD player, a nice Victrola turntable, and a great pair of Bose 301series 5 speakers. It is not a high-end audiophile set up, but it certainly meets my needs and fills the home office (spare bedroom) with sound.

Since there has been a resurgence in the popularity of vinyl records, a local store has opened that sells new and vintage vinyls. I am sure that ninety percent of the inventory comes from auctions and estate sales. The prices range from $3.99-$15.99 for the vintage recordings to $24.99-$49.99 for remastered classic albums. So, since this is a free choice week, I’ll share a couple of selections from my recent purchases.

Have a blessed week.

  1. It’s always nice getting something you like at a great deal. Stereo equipment can be expensive. I’m happy for your new acquisitions. One person’s junk becomes another person’s treasure. 🙂 In the past decade or two there has been greater interest in vinyls again, something I was sure would just disappear completely but has managed to survive. You shared some songs I haven’t heard in a while like CSN “Cold Rain”. It was nice to listen to a young Rita Coolidge especially after I used her in my Jan. 1st BOTB. Her ’82 hit, “All Time High” reminded me just how amazing of vocalist she is. Now, I’m curious as to what became of her in later years. I guess I’ll have to go Internet sleuthing. Have a boogietastic week!

    PS: Fabulous action photographs!

Love your playlist today. I’ve always been one of her fans.

  3. Nice shots and since music selections. Just thinking about LP’s. My son came over and said that he had a record player and wanted to borrow some albums. He then it was cool now to have both. I have always had a record player and records, so I guess I have always been cool.

  4. As always, great sports photography. Congrats on your music system, especially the Bose, which was a nice find. A “very” high end manufacturer of audio equipment, MacIntosh, is located right here in the Binghamton, New York area. It’s so nice to see that vinyl is “cool” again. Your picks were all perfect for me; needed soothing music this evening, and I didn’t even know most of the songs.

  5. Mom used to photograph her nephew playing baseball and enjoyed that. Now he is grown up and she is left with just us dogs to photograph. What a cool stereo set up. That is a super fun idea!
