I think much of America went to similar churches. My dad’s family still worships at the little Baptist church on the Big Sioux river in South Dakota. It also has a outhouse an outhouse out back.
You’re the first one to comment on the outdoor facilities…and there is only one.
Yes, there was a time when denominational worship ran deep in families. I am third, maybe fourth generation Southern Baptist and our daughter continues in that faith. One of the grand daughters has moved to a little more non-denominational but Scripture based church. Denominations are basically the reflection of disagreements over Scripture. We were all one religion in the beginning and we will all be one religion when Christ returns.
I’ve always thought it would be so cool to take an old church to renovate into a home. The idea is neat but it would be far too costly I’m sure. Nice photo!
There’s a small church for sale in my neighborhood. Not a country church but it saddens me to see a church close, for whatever reason. Happy that this one keeps on going. Alana ramblinwitham
Abandoned and re-purposed churches often speak volumes about our spiritual condition. These small country churches were once the moral backbone of this nation. I wish there were tens of thousands of them.
That’s a sweet little country church.

There was a time when it was certainly in the middle of nowhere.

I’ve always thought that re-purposing a small church building into a studio, condo, or private residence would be awesome and probably expensive.

I love this church building! it looks so serene at the moment, I wonder what hymns they play during Sunday gatherings?

I am pretty sure that the hymns played here fall in to the very traditional catagory…and that is not a bad thing.

What a handsome little church. I’m surrounded by ancient churches, many of which have now been converted to housing. I wish we had one like this!
