2019 Christmas Music Marathon – Day 22

The marathon is moving very quickly toward the finish line. I have decided that I will most likely go dark for the week after Christmas. I believe I am going to upgrade and rework the blog site.  So that means there will not be any encore performances this season and since we have one week less between Thanksgiving and Christmas I have a lot of music left to share. Let’s get on with the celebration.

Every married couple that has experienced the birth of their first child knows one thing for sure, a baby changes everything. The circumstances of Christ’s birth not only changed the lives of Mary and Joseph but it was God’s promise fulfilled to change the hearts and lives of all mankind.

The Christmas season provides endless photo opportunities. Hopefully, I can get out and about to capture a few images of what is going on around our town. Today was cold, wet, and just generally unpleasant. Tomorrow should be a better day. It’s easy for us to postpone doing things we would like to do  or, more importantly, we need to do, just because it is a bit of an inconvenience. God has provided us with a path to eternal life through His Son, Jesus Christ. All we have to do is accept that gift through faith. It is the only way to obtain eternal life. The decision is ours and there is no better time than Christmas to make Christ the center of our life. Have a blessed Holiday season.

Christmas 2010

One of the blessings of Christmas is family. One blessing that our family has enjoyed is that we live in the same town, so we get to see each other on a somewhat regular basis. My wife and I have been able to watch the grandkids grow  up. We’ve attended baseball games, soccer matches, track meets, dance competitions, choir concerts and more. Each year we get to celebrate Christmas together even if only for the day. My your Christmas be filled with the joy that only family can bring. Merry Christmas.

Scripture tells us that shepherds in the hills nearby Bethlehem were among the first to receive the good news that a Savior had been born. Luke 2:13 tells us, “And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of heavenly host praising God and saying; Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.  One can only imagine the conversation between the shepherds and Mary & Joseph.

Joseph ; “How did you know about the birth of our son?”

Shepherds: “Angels we have heard on high.”

Have a blessed day.

As the gifts begin to appear under the tree, excitement begins to build. Which gifts were chosen with care especially for me to bring joy to my heart. The greatest gift of all is the gift of eternal life, chosen by God and presented through the birth, life, death, and resurrection of His Son. God has chosen the hearts of men to be the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit until Christ returns to gather His bride, the church, and spend eternity with us. When we fall in love with the Savior we give our hearts to Him and trust Christ with every aspect of our lives. In turn, He gives us a peace that passes all understanding and promises to be with us every minute of every day. We are not promised a life free of trials, burdens, heartaches or pain, but we are guaranteed the final victory over death and the grave. We are promised eternity in the presence of God spent in a place where there will indeed be no more sorrow, no more tears and no more suffering. It all began in a manger in Bethlehem with a Holy Child that Chose the Hearts of Men.

The Grandson 2003

Pictured in the image above is our daughter, my father, our son-in-law and our four grandchildren. The grandson is less than three months old here. He is now 16 and over 6 feet tall.

One of the critical decisions surrounding a newborn is choosing a name. Many families follow the tradition of naming the child after other family members. I am named after my father and grandparents. My first name is the same as my dad and paternal grandfather while my middle name is the last name of my maternal grandparents. Mary and Joseph did not choose the name of Jesus. Christ was the Son of God and God chose His name. And His Name Shall Be…
